Senior Interaction Designer (Motion, Animation, Mobile Product)

Location: London

Client: Chase UK

Working model: Onsite

The role:

We're seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to join Chase UK, JP Morgan's digital consumer bank, to help define the motion language, interaction patterns and iconography for an exciting new mobile product.

This isn't a traditional UI or Product Design role. We're looking for someone who obsesses over the details that elevate a product from functional to exceptional—timing, easing, choreography, micro-interactions and thoughtful motion that helps users understand what's happening at every step.

You'll work within a small, collaborative team of Product Designers, Engineers and Product Managers, owning the interaction and motion experience from concept through to production. Everything you create will contribute to a scalable design system and be shipped to users.

What you'll be doing:

You'll take ownership of the product's interaction and motion system, including:

  • Defining motion principles, behaviours and animation standards across the product.
  • Designing meaningful transitions that guide users naturally through key journeys.
  • Creating loading, processing, confirmation and error state animations that clearly communicate system status.
  • Designing polished micro-interactions including button feedback, selection states, expansion, reordering and navigation.
  • Building a cohesive iconography system covering functional icons, status indicators and supporting illustrations.
  • Producing high-fidelity prototypes that demonstrate timing, behaviour and interaction.
  • Contributing to the design system with motion guidelines, reusable patterns and documentation.
  • Working closely with engineers to ensure animations are performant and implemented as intended.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for:

We're interested in people who have experience designing mobile product experiences, not just marketing or brand animation.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong experience in Interaction Design or Motion Design with a significant focus on mobile applications.
  • An outstanding portfolio showcasing motion, transitions, interaction design and micro-interactions.
  • Deep understanding of animation principles including timing, easing, sequencing and visual hierarchy.
  • Experience creating motion systems and reusable interaction patterns.
  • Strong iconography skills with experience designing consistent icon sets.
  • Advanced Figma skills alongside one or more motion tools such as Rive, Lottie, After Effects, Principle or ProtoPie.
  • Experience working with design systems and creating developer-ready specifications.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practice, including reduced-motion considerations.
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineers throughout implementation.

About you:

  • You notice when an animation feels just a little too slow.
  • You know when an easing curve doesn't quite feel right.
  • You care about craft but understand how to ship quickly.
  • You're comfortable working in ambiguity, helping define patterns before they exist.
  • Most importantly, you believe motion isn't decoration—it's a critical part of how great products communicate.

Why join us?

  • You'll have the opportunity to shape the interaction language of a brand-new product from the ground up. Rather than maintaining an established design system, you'll help define it.
  • If you're passionate about creating beautifully crafted mobile experiences and want your work to have a visible impact, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, please include your CV and a portfolio showcasing your interaction and motion design work. Applications without a portfolio are unlikely to be considered.
