Key Accountabilities

• Lead the development and continuous evolution of Places for London's Investment Strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and long-term growth objectives.
• Identify, assess and prioritise investment opportunities across the portfolio, establishing and maintaining a credible investment programme that optimises value creation and capital allocation.
• Lead investment analysis and appraisal activities, including assessment of development opportunities, acquisitions, disposals and alternative investment structures.
• Oversee portfolio valuation activities, performance monitoring and benchmarking, providing insight and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
• Commission and manage market research and analysis to ensure investment decisions are evidence-based, commercially robust and responsive to market trends.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear reporting, influencing senior decision-makers and supporting delivery of wider business objectives.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential Skills and Experience

• Demonstrable experience developing, implementing or influencing investment strategies within a property, real estate or investment environment.
• Strong understanding of property investment principles and financial appraisal techniques, including metrics such as IRR, NPV, yield and discounted cash flow analysis.
• Experience undertaking or overseeing property valuations using recognised valuation methodologies.
• Experience leading acquisitions, disposals or other real estate transactions across a range of structures and delivery mechanisms.
• Ability to analyse complex information and translate findings into clear, evidence-based recommendations and business cases.
• Experience presenting complex investment matters to senior stakeholders in a clear, concise and compelling manner.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and managing relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.

Essential Knowledge

• Strong understanding of property market dynamics and supply and demand characteristics across one or more sectors, including residential, commercial, retail, industrial or alternative assets.
• Knowledge of current market, regulatory and structural trends affecting the UK property industry.
• Strong understanding of investment appraisal, portfolio management and valuation principles.
• Knowledge of programme and portfolio management best practice.

Desirable

• Experience working within a public sector, regulated or politically sensitive environment.
• Experience incorporating ESG considerations into investment decision-making.
• Experience leading, supervising or developing teams, colleagues or external advisers.
