About PCF
The Project and Corporate Finance Clients Department (PCF) focuses on expanding private-sector client relationships in infrastructure finance. It leads nonsovereign-backed financing (NSBF) across sectors, geographies, and financial products, aiming to position AIIB as the "go-to" development bank for private infrastructure investments.
PCF is divided into three subteams:
- Project Finance
- Corporate Finance
- Direct Equity
The Senior Investment Officer, Direct Equity, reports to the Manager, PCF or Lead, PCF and will:
- Originate and execute direct equity investment projects.
- Generate and manage an advanced investment pipeline by identifying and structuring new opportunities.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams (legal, technical, safeguards) in due diligence and internal approval processes.
- Engage in comprehensive research on potential projects and investors.
- Organize and lead stakeholder meetings, preparing high-level presentations, memos, and reports.

Key Responsibilities
- Origination and Execution: Drive the structuring and implementation of direct equity investments in the infra-sector.
- Pipeline Development: Continuously assess opportunities across geographies/sectors and nurture promising leads.
- Due Diligence Leadership: Oversee legal, technical, and safeguards evaluations, reporting key findings for internal committees.
- Research & Insights: Analyze market trends, project viability, and competitive positioning within private infrastructure finance.
- Client Engagement: Present findings, strategies, and transaction proposals to stakeholders, including private investors, governments, and regulators.
- Collaboration: Strengthen cross-departmental relations to align projects with Bank policy and strategy.
- Mentorship: Support team growth by guiding junior colleagues and sharing industry expertise.
- Ad Hoc Support: Assist management teams in meeting KPIs through targeted interventions and reporting.
Essential Requirements
- 8–10 years of proven experience in infrastructure finance, gained at private banks, institutions, investment banks, or specialised consultancies.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in:
- Business/Finance
- Economics
- Related fields
- Qualities:
- Strong project management and organisational skills to handle multiple complex deals.
- Exceptional quantitative and narrative communication to engage governments, investors, and technical teams.
- Deep financial analytical and transaction structuring expertise.
- Ability to adapt business models in transport, energy, water, and urban infrastructure.
- Leadership experience demonstrated through team management and strategic execution.
- Regional/Sector Fluency Awaited:
- Valuable but not mandatory: technical experience in transport/energy/water/urban sectors.

Preferred Profile
- Familiarity with AIIB’s target countries: Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asia, East Asia, West Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America.
- Advanced fluency in multiple languages, especially those relevant to client regions (beyond core English proficiency).
