Functional area: Project Development
RWE Renewables Offshore Wind is seeking an Investment & Valuation Manager to join the Projects & Investments UK team (P&I UK). The P&I UK team’s main responsibilities are to support the Offshore Wind business in evaluating business opportunities, valuing projects and proposals, and driving the Investment Approval Process to deliver a clear articulation of opportunity and risk to management. The P&I department also serves as the governance function to ensure only fairly represented (challenging others when not) and appropriately analysed proposals reach the decision level. In addition, the P&I team partners with the business to understand key valuation drivers and dynamics, all to help guide tactical and strategic decision making.
With an international team spanning across Europe and Asia, this position offers an opportunity to a self-motivated and highly responsible individual to be part of a growing team and business that has substantial growth ambitions in offshore wind for the UK region. Intellectual flexibility and cultural sensitivity are also valued traits in this global team. Hybrid working is at the heart on how we operate although traveling is also required.
About the role
- Develop quantitative and qualitative analyses (including, as required, models and calculations) of prospective investment opportunities and effectively communicate results
- Support investment approval process, including stakeholder management, verbal and quantitative analysis, and process management, ensuring clear, high quality, delivery of papers and presentations for Board of Directors consideration
- Evaluate and challenge inputs to investment decisions, especially those inputs that are key to valuation results (including identifying key value drivers)
- Identify and implement process / valuation model improvements, including model standardization and proposing/implementing department-wide guidance
- Support financial due diligence and strategic initiatives as required, including quality control reviews
- Serve in the governance role to challenge assumptions while maintaining a commercial mindset on investment, divestment, bidding, and partnering decisions
- Mentoring and support in development of less experienced Investment & Valuation Managers

Job requirements and experience
- Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science or similar university degree required
- At least a few years’ experience in finance roles, including experience with financial modelling (DCF) and proficiency in Excel
- Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and ability to maximise commercial business case and ensure shareholder responsibility. Attention to detail, ability to work in deadline driven projects while ensuring high quality and accurate deliverables
- Effective written and oral communication skills, ability to operate in an international team and collaborate with other company functions.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Advantageous, but not essential
- MBA or advanced degree with a focus on statistics, data analytics or other quantitative focus preferred OR finance, business or other professional designations (e.g. CFA, CPA, PMI)
- Knowledge of capital market theory and in-depth familiarity with valuation-related topics, in particular DCF valuation
- Investment banking and/or renewable energy experience including due diligence experience
