Sector: Insurance Location: London / Hybrid Salary: £70,000 - £85,000
A growing insurance business is seeking a Senior IT Auditor to join its internal audit function. This hands-on IT audit role focuses on technology controls, IT controls governance (ITGCs), systems risk, internal controls testing, and audit reporting. Ideal candidates will have experience in IT audit, technology risk, IT controls, or assurance, with a preference for backgrounds in insurance, financial services, or regulated environments.
The Role
This position involves delivering comprehensive IT audits across technology and operational domains, from planning through to reporting. You will aid the business in maintaining a strong control environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute end-to-end IT audits
- Test IT controls, ITGCs, and systems controls, including:
- Access management
- Change management
- IT operations
- Security and third-party controls
- Create comprehensive working papers to support findings
- Draft clear audit findings with root causes, risk assessments, and recommendations
- Present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Support SOX, JSOX, or equivalent internal controls testing
- Oversee remediation tracking and perform follow-up reviews
- Contribute audit insights to technology change and system implementation activities

Experience Required
- Proven experience in IT audit, technology risk, IT controls, or technology assurance
- Strong grasp of ITGCs and control testing methodologies
- Experience managing audits from planning to reporting completion
- Exposure to SOX, JSOX, or similar regulatory frameworks is advantageous
- Ability to write clear audit reports and explain technical risks to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities
- Excellent organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Background in insurance, financial services, or regulated sectors is beneficial
- Familiarity with frameworks like COBIT, ITIL, or ISO27001 is useful
- Preferred certifications: CISA, CISM, or CIA, or current study towards certification
