What The Hiring Manager Says
"This is a pivotal role within IT Business Engagement, designed for someone ready to operate as a senior, trusted technology partner to the business and leadership team. As a Senior IT Business Partner, you will shape how GSMA defines, prioritises, and delivers technology-enabled change.
You will work closely with Executive Leadership and senior stakeholders to translate strategic ambition into practical, scalable digital solutions, while also mentoring and strengthening the wider partnering team. This role requires strong judgement, commercial awareness, and the confidence to influence at all levels, combined with a passion for delivering tangible outcomes through technology."
David Cook, Head of IT Business Engagement
About The Team
The IT Business Engagement team is the primary interface between GSMA and IT, responsible for ensuring technology investment is aligned to organisational priorities and delivers measurable value. As the function matures, the team is increasingly focused on demand management, portfolio oversight, and enabling long-term digital strategy rather than solely project delivery.
The Senior IT Business Partner plays a key leadership role within the team — acting as a role model for best practice, supporting capability development, and helping to define how business partnering operates across GSMA.
About The Role
As a Senior IT Business Partner, you will own senior stakeholder relationships and act as a strategic advisor on how technology can enable business objectives. You will lead the definition and management of IT demand across multiple initiatives, ensuring clarity of scope, priority, and value, while working closely with IT delivery teams and key vendors. You will take accountability for shaping and assessing business cases, overseeing budgets and delivery timelines, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring effective escalation and decision-making at the right level. You will also collaborate with Legal and Procurement to assess and define enterprise IT toolsets and vendor approaches that support evolving business needs. In addition to direct delivery accountability, you will play an active leadership role within IT Business Engagement — mentoring other Business Partners, embedding best practice, and helping evolve demand management, portfolio governance, and stakeholder engagement models.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
