Senior IT Category Manager
# Senior IT Category Manager – UK-Based Remote Role
Wood is recruiting a Senior IT Category Manager to take ownership of the leadership and management of the IT category function across the group, driving and shaping category strategies that deliver tangible and sustainable savings, while ensuring value and exceptional service to internal customers.
This is a UK-based remote role, with applications welcomed from candidates across the country.
[The Role]
You will be responsible for an annual spend of approximately $250M across the Group. You will sit as part of the Group Procurement leadership team and collaborate closely with senior business and functional leaders to:
- Develop and deliver category strategies
- Lead key strategic supplier relationships
- Drive procurement excellence across the business
The role involves:
- Leading the IT procurement team to deliver value, risk reduction, and simplified procurement processes in a complex technology environment
- Partnering closely with strategic IT suppliers to manage diverse procurement requirements, including:
- Sourcing and contract management activities
- Development of strong commercial partnerships that align with the organisation’s technology objectives
Wood operates globally, delivering solutions across 60+ countries, with local offices in major energy and materials hubs.

Manage the strategic direction of IT procurement to deliver near-term and long-term business objectives, covering:
Category Ownership
- Software (SaaS, Enterprise Applications, Licensing)
- Cloud Services
- Infrastructure and Data Centres
- Hardware and End User Computing
- Telecommunications and Networks
- IT Professional Services
- CyberSecurity Solutions
Core Responsibilities
- Spend analysis, market trend evaluation, supplier landscape assessment, and technology development identification to drive cost optimisation and value creation
- Establish category governance, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead complex sourcing projects, including RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, with competitive negotiations
- Achieve measurable savings, cost avoidance, and commercial benefits, balancing quality, risk, and innovation
- Negotiate enterprise-wide agreements, including software licensing structures, cloud consumption models, and strategic supplier contracts, ensuring commercial terms align with business objectives.
- Work with the Group Procurement leadership team, supporting broader business strategy and objectives
- Role-model dedication to Wood’s vision, values, and behaviours
- Embed IT procurement and compliance frameworks throughout the business
- Expand Group procurement initiatives across business units (BUs), embedding category principles to ensure sustainable value delivery
- Develop and lead the IT procurement team, including mentoring, coaching and recruitment, to drive a high-performing, skilled team

- Degree-level education or equivalent commercial experience in Supply Chain
- Experience negotiating with providers:
- Enterprise platforms: Oracle, Microsoft
- Industry-specific tools: Autodesk, AspenTech, Hexagon, AVEVA, Bentley
- Service providers: Wissen (managed services/staff augmentation)
- Extensive experience in:
- IT category management
- Strategic sourcing
- Procurement leadership, including:
- Developing category strategies
- Leading high-performing IT sourcing teams
- Delivering measurable business outcomes
- Management of $150M+ annual IT spend
- Proven success in negotiating complex technology agreements with global suppliers
