Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer – Rebrand to O2 Business

We’re excited to announce our rebrand as O2 Business and are looking for a passionate, technically astute Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. As part of a growing organisation with a focus on simplicity, reliability, and speed, you’ll play a key role in designing and maintaining our core IT infrastructure.

Salary & Location

  • Salary: Up to £60,000.00 (DoE)
  • Location: Nelson
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30/9:00 – 17:00/17:30 (37.5 hours per week)

The Role

You’ll be responsible for delivering complex IT infrastructure projects, ensuring everything runs securely, efficiently, and with innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and assist in establishing a Daisy standalone IT infrastructure.
  • Design, support, and optimise physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with external networking, infrastructure, and support teams.
  • Install new or rebuild existing servers, configuring hardware, services, directories, storage, and settings as required.
  • Research and recommend innovative, automated solutions for system administration tasks.
  • Manage and complete comprehensive documentation for server design, configuration, and implementation.
  • Monitor system health, ensuring availability, integrity, and performance across all servers and processes.
  • Act as an escalation point for the deskside support team.
  • Mentor junior IT team members.
  • Respond promptly to Cyber Security Alerts.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in project planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware or Hyper-V, including implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong System Administration capabilities (hardware, virtualisation, OS).
  • Expertise in infrastructure security (firewalls, antivirus, encryption).
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy Object (GPO).
  • Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 administration experience.
  • Familiarity with backup tools (Rubrik, System Center Data Protection Manager).
  • Organised, detail-oriented mindset.
  • Cloud experience, specifically AWS and Azure.
  • Cyber security awareness.
  • Microsoft 365 experience.
