Senior IT Infrastructure Officer
Our Client, a leading bank in Central London, is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure professional to take on their next challenge within a dynamic and regulated financial services environment.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior IT Infrastructure Officer to lead the management, security, and continuous improvement of our enterprise IT infrastructure.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the availability, resilience, and performance of critical systems, supporting technologies across:
- Servers
- Networks
- Cloud services
- Cybersecurity
- Business-critical financial applications
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise in Windows/Linux, VMware, Microsoft 365, networking, cybersecurity, and infrastructure management, and thrives on solving complex challenges to drive operational excellence.
Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience in enterprise infrastructure, with a preference for banking or financial services
- Passion for delivering secure, reliable IT services
- Engagement in driving business goals through IT excellence
Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows and Linux server environments
- Manage VMware virtualized infrastructure (vSphere 8.0.3 and above)
- Oversee enterprise backup and disaster recovery (using Veeam Backup & Replication)
- Support Veeam ONE monitoring and Veeam Recovery Orchestrator (VRO)
- Administer endpoint security and encryption (Symantec SEP, SEE)
- Manage SIEM/DLP/security monitoring tools (Splunk, Tenable, Splunk)
- Implement and maintain patch management (ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus)
- Support Microsoft 365 and cloud technologies
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, security policies, and operational standards
- Root-cause analysis of infrastructure health (performance, availability, capacity)

2. End-User Computing & Branch Support
- Provide advanced support for:
- Desktops/laptops
- Printers & iOS devices
- Branch offices
- Deliver AV support (conferencing, collaboration, presentations)
- Manage OS deployment, imaging, imaging maintenance, and software packaging
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), user provisioning, and NTFS permissions
- Support Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
- Resolve incidents and service requests as per SLAs
3. Enterprise Applications & Financial Systems Support
- Support and administer business-critical financial systems, including:
- Bloomberg FXT / Refinitiv Eikon
- Murex Treasury System
- SWIFT Alliance Access (SAA)
- 1AML, SIBS, GFMS, COP
- Manage enterprise file synchronization/replication (SFTP/Syncovery)
- Troubleshoot and maintain mission-critical financial applications
4. Networking
- Configure and support:
- Cisco switches and routers
- FortiGate firewalls
- Manage fundamental networking:
- DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN
- Troubleshoot routing and connectivity
- Monitor network availability, performance, and security posture
5. Security & Endpoint Management
- Conduct vulnerability management (Tenable, SentinelOne, XDR)
- Support security monitoring and log analysis (Splunk, Fortinet)
- Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle (OpenSSL, CSRs, chains, private keys)
- Enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and regulatory compliance
- Support physical access control (Paxton systems)

6. Technical Competencies
- Operating Systems: Windows 11, Windows Server 2019/2022, Red Hat Linux
- Infrastructure & Virtualization:
- VMware vSphere/vCenter (8.0.3+)
- Veeam Backup & Replication, VRO, Veeam ONE
- Patch management (ManageEngine)
- Microsoft 365 & Cloud: Collaboration, security, compliance (O365 admin rights)
- Security Tools:
- Symantec SOP-SEP, Symantec SEE
- SentinelOne (EDR/XDR, pre-remediations)
- SIEM/Splunk, vulnerability tools (Tenable)
- Networking: FortiGate firewall, Cisco networks, LAN/WAN
- Hardware: Dell PowerEdge Servers, Dell PowerVault SAN
- Database & Other Leverage: SQL Server, Azure integrations (as required)
7. Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or professional qualification in:
- IT/Information Systems
- Computer Science/Technology
- Software Engineering
- Information Science/Cybersecurity
- Preferred Industry Certifications:
- (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, ITIL, MCSE, VCA, MCITP, Red Hat Certified)
Expected Working Model
- Monday–Friday, 9:30am–5:30pm
- Office-based (5 days per week during probation)
- Reporting to the Head of IT & Data
Key Details
- Location: Central London (office-based post-probation flexibility to be discussed)
- Position Type: 12-month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)
- Salary: Circa £70,000–£75,000 per annum (competitive and dependent on experience)
