Senior IT Infrastructure & Systems Lead
Senior IT Infrastructure Officer – Financial Services (London)
Our Client, a bank in Central London, is seeking an **experienced IT Infrastructure professional to transition into their next role within a dynamic and regulated financial services environment.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior IT Infrastructure Officer to:
- Lead the management, security, and continuous improvement of enterprise IT infrastructure
- Ensure availability, resilience, and performance of critical systems across:
- Servers
- Networks
- Cloud services
- Cybersecurity
- Business-critical financial applications
This role requires a technically adept candidate with expertise in Windows/Linux, VMware, Microsoft 365, networking, cybersecurity, and infrastructure management—one who thrives on solving complex challenges and driving operational excellence.
Key Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, preferably within banking or financial services
- Passionate about delivering secure, reliable IT services
Work Arrangement
- Contract Type: 12-month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)
- Location: Central London (office-based, 5 days/week in probation period)
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Reports to: Head of IT & Data
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Administer and optimize Windows and Linux server environments
- Manage VMware virtualized infrastructure (vSphere v8.0.3+)
- Oversee enterprise backup & disaster recovery using Veeam Backup & Replication
- Manage Veeam ONE monitoring & VRO environments
- Administer endpoint security and encryption (Symantec Endpoint Protection, SEE)
- Support endpoint DLP, SIEM & security monitoring (Splunk, Tenable)
- Manage patch processes using ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
- Support Microsoft 365 services & related cloud technologies
- Ensure in-depth Cybersecurity compliance
- Monitor performance, capacity, availability & infrastructure health
- Enforce IT governance, security policies & operational standards

End-User Computing & Branch Support
- Provide advanced support for:
- Desktops, laptops, printers
- iOS mobile devices
- Branch office IT
- Deliver meeting room AV & conferencing support
- Manage OS deployment, imaging, software packaging
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), user provisioning & NTFS permissions
- Support Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
- Resolve technical incidents & service requests within SLAs
Enterprise Applications & Financial Systems
- Support business-critical financial systems, including:
- Bloomberg FXT & Refinitiv Eikon
- Murex Treasury System
- SWIFT Alliance Access (SAA)
- 1AML, SIBS, GFMS, COP
- Manage enterprise file sync & replication (Syncovery, SFTP).
Networking
- Configure & support Cisco switches & routers
- Administer FortiGate firewall environments
- Ensure strong networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, routing/troubleshooting)
- Monitor network performance, availability & security

Security & Endpoint Management
- Perform vulnerability management (Tenable)
- Manage security monitoring & log analysis (Splunk)
- Handle SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle (OpenSSL)
- Generate CSRs, certificate chains & private keys
- Enforce cybersecurity policies & regulatory compliance
- Support physical access systems (Paxton)
Operating Systems & Virtualization
- Windows: Windows 11, Server 2019/2022 (or equivalent)
- Linux: Red Hat
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere/vCenter, Veeam, VRO
- Cloud & Solutions: Microsoft Office 365, SQL Server, SAAS
- Security Tools: Symantec SEP, SEE, SentinelOne (EDR/XDR), DLP, FortiGate
Hardware & Storage
- Dell PowerEdge Servers
- Dell PowerVault SAN Storage
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in:
- IT/Information Systems
- Computer Science
- Technology/Programming
- Information Science/System Engineering/Computing
Job Details
- Salary: £70K–£75K p.a.
- Position Duration: 12-month Fixed-Term Contract
- Base Location: Central London
