Senior IT Project Manager

Senior Project Manager (IT) – Glasgow Head Office

Job Purpose

To provide expert and professional delivery management services to CRH Group, including:

  • Shaping and successfully running a variety of IT projects and programmes
  • Managing stakeholder and IT delivery team liaison
  • Leading diverse projects across varying sizes and timelines
  • Essential ability: Juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines

Additionally, the role requires:

  • Contributing to the development of best practice project management standards and quality assurance processes across IT deliveries
  • Supporting internal/external teams with project management delivery advice as needed

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities

Delivery Management

  • Shape, manage, and deliver IT projects using relevant methodologies and techniques
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to align projects with business needs, fostering trust in IT as a supplier
  • Plan and secure IT resources with internal capability leads and/or external suppliers
  • Lead multi-skilled project teams, including third-party technical partners

Key Activities

  • Detailed IT project planning:

    • Develop and maintain a detailed IT project plan
    • Manage deliverables in line with the project plan
  • Budget oversight:

    • Resources, licence subscriptions, training, and hardware management
  • Risk & issue management:

    • Identify and manage the critical delivery path
    • Record, prioritise, and escalate IT project issues as necessary
    • Resolve cross-functional issues at the project level
  • Scope & governance:

    • Manage project scope and change control
    • Track and escalate issues as required
  • Stakeholder reporting:

    • Liaise with and update project boards, business change managers, and senior IT leadership
    • Monitor and report on project progress and performance
    • facilitate evaluation and dissemination activities

IT Project Management Capability Management

  • Provide timely and effective IT project management services

  • Support the evolution and enhancement of:

    • Methodologies
    • Toolsets
    • Colleague skillsets, aligning with industry best practice and strategic trends
  • Collaborate with IT teams and broader business stakeholders to ensure appropriate service delivery.

Performance Management

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to agreed project performance criteria for CRH IT deliveries
  • Generate performance statistics and prepare reports as required
