Senior Backend Developer | Java | Spring Boot | Hybrid| Contract Role
Location: London (Hybrid) 3 days per week in office.
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
Contract Length: 12 month rolling
We're working with a leading global organisation looking to hire a Senior Backend Developer to join a high-performing engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, enterprise-grade backend platforms, helping to shape technical architecture while building robust, scalable Java applications.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and enhance scalable microservices and REST APIs
- Drive architectural decisions focused on performance, security and scalability
- Work across the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and production support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic technology initiatives
- Champion engineering best practices, code quality and automated testing
- Mentor developers and provide technical leadership where needed

What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of Java backend development experience
- Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Batch and Spring Integration
- Experience building microservices and RESTful APIs
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle
- Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Familiarity with Git, JUnit, Unix/Linux and shell scripting
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines
- A solid understanding of distributed systems, backend performance and application security
