About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to join our client's dynamic technology team in Bromley and London. This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring three days in the office per week. The role is initially offered as a 12-month contract with the potential for extension for an additional year. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting and developing applications within the Futures & Options and Collateral business units for the Global Markets division. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical microservices and portlets, contributing to innovative financial solutions that impact global markets.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in Java development and related technologies. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have extensive experience working within Agile environments and possess excellent problem-solving skills. Familiarity with microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift is highly desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across international teams are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining a range of microservices and portlets that support critical financial applications
- Leveraging Enterprise/Core Java, JMS, Spring Framework, JDBC, and Java ORM technologies to build scalable and reliable solutions
- Collaborating closely with business product owners and end-users to gather requirements, define technical specifications, and troubleshoot issues promptly
- Participating in code reviews, contributing to technical documentation, and supporting the deployment and integration of applications within CI/CD pipelines
- Providing Level 3 production support for existing systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance
- Working as part of a geographically dispersed team, engaging with colleagues in London, Singapore, India, New York, and Chicago
- Communicating and coordinating effectively across different time zones, focusing on delivering high-quality software solutions that meet business needs
- Being proactive in suggesting improvements, adopting innovative technologies, and enhancing existing processes to streamline development workflows
