About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to join our client's dynamic technology team in Bromley and London. This role is pivotal in supporting and developing critical applications within the Futures & Options and Collateral business sectors for Global Markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining microservices and web-based applications that are essential to the organization’s operations. Working in a hybrid environment, the Senior Java Developer will collaborate with international teams spanning London, Singapore, and India, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of high-quality software solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned developer to contribute to impactful projects within a fast-paced financial services environment, utilizing cutting-edge technologies and best practices in software development.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in Java development with proven experience in enterprise-level applications. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Extensive hands-on experience with Java/J2EE frameworks, microservices architecture, and web application development is essential. Familiarity with database programming using Oracle SQL/PLSQL is required, along with experience in version control and CI/CD tools such as GIT, Jenkins, and Ansible. Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and effective communication skills to liaise with global teams and stakeholders. Experience working within Agile methodologies and writing technical designs will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Developing, enhancing, and supporting a suite of microservices and portlets critical to the organization’s financial operations.
- Designing scalable and maintainable solutions using Enterprise/Core Java, JMS, Spring Framework, JDBC, and Java ORM technologies.
- Collaborating with both technical and business teams across multiple locations, including Bromley, London, Singapore, and India.
- Participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and technical design to testing and deployment.
- Serving as a Level 3 support resource, resolving complex production issues efficiently.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of development practices and ensuring adherence to best practices in CI/CD pipelines, security, and coding standards.
- Effectively communicating with business product owners and end-users to define requirements and troubleshoot issues.
