Senior Java Developer | Electronic Trading | VP / Executive Director

Location: London

Working Pattern: Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office

Salary: Up to £200,000 base + exceptional bonus (Total Compensation up to £350,000)

A leading global investment bank is making a significant investment in its London Electronic Trading engineering team, expanding ownership of key trading platforms from the US into Europe. This is an opportunity to join a business that is actively building rather than maintaining, with multiple senior hires planned over the next 12 months. You'll work alongside experienced engineers developing the next generation of low latency electronic trading systems supporting global markets.

The Opportunity

You'll become part of a highly experienced engineering team responsible for developing and enhancing mission critical electronic trading platforms across multiple asset classes. Working closely with traders, quantitative teams and business stakeholders, you'll build software that directly impacts trading performance and execution quality.

Projects include:

  • Designing and building low latency Java applications
  • Developing electronic trading and execution platforms
  • Building pricing and market data infrastructure
  • Improving platform performance, scalability and resilience
  • Enhancing execution algorithms and trading workflows
  • Working on highly distributed, performance critical systems

We're looking for experienced Java engineers who have worked within high performance front office technology environments.

You'll likely have experience in several of the following:

  • Multithreaded and concurrent programming

Experience within Rates or Equities trading technology would be particularly valuable, although candidates from other electronic trading asset classes will also be considered.

Modern Engineering

The engineering organisation actively embraces modern software development practices. Developers are encouraged to leverage AI assisted development tools such as:

  • GitHub Copilot
  • Cursor

You'll be expected to understand how AI can improve software engineering productivity while maintaining strong engineering fundamentals.
