Role: Senior Java / Python Engineer
Client: Financial Systems
Salary: Up To £130,000 P/A + Comps
A high-performing global team is looking for an experienced Java / Python Engineer to help build and enhance critical backend platforms supporting complex risk, trading, and data workflows. This is a hands-on role focused on scalable engineering, distributed systems, large datasets, and delivering robust solutions within a fast-paced financial environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and enhancing Java and Python-based backend services and risk data pipelines
- Working with complex risk and trading datasets to support analytics, reporting, and downstream processing
- Developing APIs, automation tools, and scalable distributed applications
- Collaborating with technical and business stakeholders across risk, front-office, and engineering teams

What we’re looking for
- Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Python within enterprise environments
- Experience building backend services, APIs, or distributed systems using technologies such as Spring Boot, FastAPI, Flask, or Django
- Strong SQL and data processing skills, with exposure to large-scale data environments
- Previous experience working with risk platforms, risk data, trading, PnL, or capital markets technology
