We're partnered with a highly respected technology consultancy trusted by some of the world's leading financial institutions to solve complex engineering challenges.

They’re looking for an experienced Senior Java Engineer with a passion for:

  • High-performance systems
  • JVM optimisation
  • Low-latency software engineering

Role Overview

📍 Location: London City (Hybrid working – at least 2 days per week in-office/on-site) ⌛ Type: Permanent 💷 Compensation: Excellent salary + benefits package

  • Build and enhance high-performance Java applications
  • Analyse, benchmark, and optimise system performance
  • Identify bottlenecks in applications and JVM workloads
  • Drive latency reduction, throughput improvement, and system efficiency
  • Work on both greenfield development and existing production systems
  • Deliver measurable performance improvements through technical collaboration

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field from a reputable university
  • Strong commercial Java development experience
  • Proven hands-on experience in high-performance and low-latency systems
  • Deep, practical expertise in JVM internals, including:
    • Garbage collection
    • Concurrency & threading
    • Memory management
  • Experience profiling and tuning applications for optimal performance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication—able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
