Senior Java Developer (Contract)
Location: East London (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)
Rate: £550 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: 12 Months
We're looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a fast-paced eCommerce business delivering scalable, high-performance digital platforms used by thousands of customers every day.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on modern cloud-native applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build and enhance critical services that power the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications and microservices.
- Build scalable, resilient, and secure solutions using modern engineering practices.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver business-critical features.
- Contribute to system design, technical decisions, and code reviews.
- Optimise application performance and ensure reliability in production environments.
- Promote engineering best practices, clean code, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with Java.
- Proven expertise in Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying applications on AWS.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing and CI/CD.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within agile teams.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within high-traffic eCommerce or digital customer platforms.
- Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with messaging technologies and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code and cloud-native development.
