£50,000 - £60,000 + EMI Share Options + Private Healthcare + Pension
Are you a LabVIEW specialist who enjoys solving complex engineering problems at the intersection of software, hardware and precision measurement?
We're looking for a Senior LabVIEW FPGA Engineer to design and develop the real-time software powering advanced semiconductor metrology systems used by some of the world's leading technology organisations.
This is a hands-on technical role where you'll build high-performance software running on NI PXI Real-Time platforms and FPGA-based hardware, helping transform vast amounts of measurement data into actionable insight. You'll work alongside physicists, software engineers and systems experts developing technology that supports the next generation of semiconductor devices.
If you enjoy building software that directly controls real-world hardware and want to see your code deployed into cutting-edge products, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
- Developing LabVIEW Real-Time software for data acquisition, control systems and hardware communication
- Designing FPGA functionality using LabVIEW FPGA and FlexRIO platforms
- Creating high-speed data pipelines, signal processing functions and control algorithms
- Building robust communication between FPGA and real-time environments using DMA and synchronisation techniques
- Writing clean, maintainable and scalable production code
- Performing code reviews and supporting software quality improvements across the team
- Developing automated testing capability and contributing to continuous integration processes
- Working closely with systems engineers, physicists and R&D teams to convert concepts into production-ready solutions
- Supporting software verification activities on both simulation environments and physical hardware
- Mentoring colleagues and promoting engineering best practice

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
