We’re looking for an experienced Senior Lawyer specialising in Property and Regeneration to join our highly regarded shared service providing legal services and advice to Swale, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Borough Councils.
The service covers a range of areas including Property and Regeneration, Planning, Contentious, Contracts & Commissioning and Corporate Governance. Working across multiple councils means a range of high-level, challenging and impactful work. This is more than a legal role—it’s your opportunity to shape communities.
About the role
As a Senior Lawyer (Property & Regeneration), you will:
- Manage a complex and rewarding caseload covering property and regeneration matters
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior leaders, elected members and officers
- Help ensure delivery to Lexcel standards and best practice
- Supervise and support junior legal staff and legal support officers
- Represent MKLS in key internal and external forums
- Deputise for the Team Leader when required
This is a pivotal role at an exciting time, with major regeneration projects underway across all three authorities.
This is a full time role working 34 hours per week on a permanent contract. This role offers the benefit of hybrid working, combining the flexibility to work from home with office-based working on a business needs basis.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
