The Senior Lead Child Protection Practitioner (Senior LCPP) provides senior operational and strategic leadership across all Lead Child Protection Practitioners (LCPPs) within the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT). This pivotal role ensures:
- Consistently high standards of statutory safeguarding practice
- Robust threshold decision-making
- Cross-system alignment with local and national safeguarding expectations
As a leader within this crucial post, you will sit at the intersection of operational practice and safeguarding governance, driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of high-support and high-challenge at every level.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior LCPP is responsible for:

Overseeing, coordinating, and quality assuring the work of all LCPPs, ensuring:
- Consistency in practice
- Strong reflective practice across teams
- A multi-agency approach aligned to Telford & Wrekin’s Families First / Family Help reforms

Leading complex and high-risk child protection decision-making, ensuring compliance with:
- The Children Act 1989
- Working Together to Safeguard Children

Acting as a key bridge between:
- Operational practice and senior safeguarding governance
- Strategic decision-making and frontline lived experiences

Ensuring that statutory child protection duties are consistently met, with close alignment to national safeguarding priorities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: £55,413 – £58,618 (including market factor)
