Lead Senior Motion Art Director

Based in London at DEPT®, the intersection of Marketing & Technology, we combine data, AI, augmented reality, creative, and paid media to solve brands’ challenges and drive revenue through diverse digital marketing solutions—including social, influencer, TTL, and global campaigns.

About the Client

Works with an exciting AI platform client, leading projects from BAU creative responses to full productions spanning multiple markets.


Job Purpose

As Lead Senior Motion Art Director, you’ll ensure creative excellence across all campaigns—crafting ideas, motion systems, and design frameworks while mentoring, empowering, and inspiring a team. This role blends hands-on art direction with leadership: refining concepts through execution and leading workflows for both static and motion outputs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Generating high-level creative direction with strong narrative & visual structure
  • Collaborating closely with stakeholders (internal & external) in UK & US
  • Facilitating creative sprints and workshops with client/third-party teams
  • Staying dynamic, balancing agility and strategic thinking
  • Ensuring craftsmanship throughout (storytelling, composition, pacing).

Responsibilities

Creative Leadership & Development

  • Shape art direction from concept to delivery across motion and static outputs
  • Partner with Design Director to refine processes and elevate design quality
  • Develop innovative ideas, grounded in narrative, pacing, and creative vision
  • Guide execution for art, motion, and static deliverables—ensuring alignment with creative intent

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and inspire the DEPT® design team, fostering collaboration and chi
  • Collaborate strategically with resource/management to optimise team operations
  • Present work interviews & externally with tactical clarity and polish
  • Attend and lead in-person creative workshops/sprints with clients and agency teams

Industry & Innovation Focus

  • Stay ahead of trends, pop culture, and emerging advertising media, incorporating them into campaigns
  • Experiment with AI products and tools for creative development and applications
  • Contribute to DEPT®’s creative process by sharing insights and best practices

Team Culture & Engagement

  • Initiate social events and team-building to strengthen workplace cohesion
  • Share learnings, foster peer feedback, and align creatives around shared goals

Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • Proven leadership experience on client teams with a consultative approach
  • Track record as a mentor/manager for designers/creatives in a multi-disciplinary env
  • Superior visual judgment and confidence in guiding concept and art direction
  • Strong motion design skillset (timing, composition, framing, storytelling)
  • Experience in styleframes, visual systems, and narrative-driven motion
  • Expertise in tech/AI-integrated campaigns

Portfolio & Showreel

Must demonstrate:

  • Craftsmanship, idea production, and quality motion/design work
  • Concept-to-delivery workflows on high-profile campaigns
  • Work demonstrating neurotech/AI integration or future-tech innovation
