About the Role
The Senior Lead Tax Specialist will oversee and manage all aspects of the indirect and direct tax lifecycle, ensuring compliance and efficiency across EMEA entities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading indirect and direct tax matters, including transfer pricing, PE risk, withholding tax, BEPS, and Pillar Two implementations
- Managing tax compliance, due diligence, and restructuring projects
- Governing BPO performance, internal controls, and tailoring KPIs to ensure tax deliverables are accurate
- Managing relationships with tax authorities and senior stakeholders
- Driving process automation and efficiency improvements across finance functions
Responsibilities
Indirect Tax Declarations
- Ensure accurate preparation and filing of VAT returns, Intrastat submissions, and other indirect tax deliverables
- Maintain statutory deadlines for returns and payments, including internal approvals
- Rectify prior returns and gather documentation for tax refunds
- Guarantee proper collection and remittance of taxes in compliance with regulations
Compliance, Audits & Policies
- Research and verify tax codes/rates while staying updated on changing regulations
- Track tax authority policies and verify website content for accuracy
- Assist in or manage tax audits, including document preparation and inquiry responses

Process Improvements & Automation
- Contribute to or implement automation initiatives and process enhancements
- Work with internal teams to resolve or prevent indirect tax issues
- Review and update tax software, ensuring efficiency
Corporate Income Tax (CIT) Management
- Oversee CIT compliance across European jurisdictions via BPO partenaires
- Review and approve BPO-prepared tax returns and computations
- Monitor Effective Tax Rate (ETR) and provide senior management reporting
- Lead responses to audits and authority inquiries, collaborating with BPO teams
- Conduct tax risk assessments and communicate findings
International Tax & Transfer Pricing
- Implement and monitor group transfer pricing policies in alignment with global HQ
- Provide expertise on international tax matters, including PE risk and treaty applications
- Track BEPS, Pillar Two, and other international tax developments
- Oversee intercompany transaction compliance (e.g., royalties, loans)
- Support tax due diligence and restructuring initiatives

Cross-functional Collaboration
- Provide ETR and tax cost inputs to FP&A for forecasting and budgeting
- Collaborate with Financial Control teams on deferred tax management
- Liaise with Legal and Compliance on regulatory updates and processes
Note: Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Your Skills & Experience
Must-have:
- 10+ years of experience in indirect and direct tax, including multi-country VAT/customs in Europe (UK included)
- Tax professional certification or equivalent required
- Preference for candidates with retail/FMCG industry background
- Strong directive ownership over risk and cost control
- Experience in ensuring efficient tax operations
preferred:
- Advanced Excel/Microsoft Office proficiency
- SAP experience
