Senior Learning & Development Manager

UL Solutions is seeking a Senior Learning & Development Manager to lead the strategy, design, and delivery of global L&D solutions that build critical capabilities and support business transformation. This role is responsible for driving a scalable, AI-enabled learning portfolio and collaborating with the business to create impactful, data-driven learning experiences.

The role operates under a hybrid working model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) and is based in Basingstoke, UK.


About the Role

This position is pivotal in defining and executing a global L&D strategy, aligning with enterprise priorities to accelerate skill development. It blends strategic leadership, AI innovation, and stakeholder engagement to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategy and Portfolio Leadership

  • Define and deliver a multi-year global L&D strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Translate business needs into prioritised learning initiatives with clear, measurable outcomes
  • Establish scalable design standards, reusable content, and global frameworks
  • Lead portfolio planning, including roadmaps, budget allocation, and impact tracking

2. Team Leadership

  • Manage direct reports, developing accountabilities and setting performance objectives in:
    • AI fluency
    • Data literacy
    • Business acumen
    • Facilitation
    • Performance consulting
  • Create succession plans for high-potential talent
  • Build a global community of practice across L&D and HR (templates, office hours, showcases) to Drive best practice sharing and content reuse

3. AI-Enabled Design, Development & Delivery

  • Integrate AI across the learning lifecycle to enhance speed, relevance, and personalisation
  • Develop frameworks, toolkits, and safeguards for responsible AI use in learning
  • Enable business teams to co-create learning solutions under L&D guidance
  • Collaborate with IT, Data, and Legal to ensure compliance and responsible AI practices

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management

  • Act as a trusted business advisor for capability gaps and performance improvement
  • Define measurable success metrics and implementation plans with stakeholders
  • Lead communication and change initiatives to drive adoption and tangible impact

5. Measurement & Impact

  • Track learning effectiveness, behaviour change, and business outcomes
  • Leverage data and experimentation to continuously refine programs
  • Provide transparency on ROI and impact to leadership

6. Program & Vendor Management

  • Oversee global programs with clear governance, timelines, and risk management
  • Manage external partners and vendors to ensure delivery, quality, and value

7. Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with accessibility, data privacy, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain documentation and quality control for all learning solutions

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree: Bachelor’s required; Master’s preferred (Learning/Operational Development/HR/business preferred)
  • Experience: 8–12+ years in L&D, OD, or related fields, with global program leadership experience
  • AI & learning technology: Proven ability to design and scale AI-enabled learning solutions
  • Stakeholder management: Skilled in navigating complex, matrixed environments
  • Data linkage: Experience connecting learning outcomes to business performance
  • Program management: Strong track record in vendor, budget and operational governance
  • Strategic mindset: Ability to balance portfolio management with innovative problem-solving
  • Technical & cultural fluency:
    • AI applications in L&D (design and delivery)
    • Global operations (cultural awareness, remote collaboration)
