About Us
Sponge is a leading digital learning agency (A “Core Leader” on the Fosway grid and Training Industry’s Top 20 company for Digital Learning) focused on delivering “Unforgettable Learning” to our customers. We’ve been leading the industry for decades with our best-in-class digital learning capability. Combined with our emergent growth of consulting services, we are succeeding in being the partner to our customers who are trying to be more strategic and bridge the critical gap between L&D and the business.
A Senior Learning Experience Designer is a leader at Sponge - upholding our high standards for quality in learning design, empathising with and servicing the needs of our clients, and proactively creating value for the business and our people. SLEDs thrive in ambiguity and confidently create learning solutions that delight stakeholders, engage and inspire audiences and deliver real business impact. Sitting within our Learning Experience Design team and working closely with The Practice, our in-house consultancy, this is someone who can:
- Push our horizons in terms of learning design (From ‘Unforgettable Experiences’ to impact measurement through strong learning prowess.)
- Successfully lead on any project, taking ownership and accountability for the health (client and commercial) of the project.
- Build capability in others – guide and inspire the development of others through knowledge sharing, coaching and fostering a culture of constructive and actionable feedback.
- Be a catalyst for collaboration and innovation within our entire organisation.
We’re on a mission to be the strategic partner who can also execute on our customers' priorities and we’re looking for the best talent to help us get there faster! A SLED is a high-impact role that wears many hats, but if we were to pick the key standout characteristics, they would be:
- High trust, high performance: You are trusted with our most complex and challenging projects/clients. You know how to solve "the learning challenge" with confidence and deliver sound learning solutions that delight our clients and their audiences.
- A "multiplier": You have a positive, solution-oriented mindset, and intuitively build capability in others.
- Prolific with clients: You know how to make our stakeholders feel seen and heard. You take ownership of an account, find ways to delight clients, and understand that our service journey is a critical part of Sponge's value.
- A natural collaborator: Solutions never operate in silos, and you proactively reach out to Project Managers, Learning Consultants, Client Managers and more to better understand the needs of a project, stakeholder, and/or the best way to deliver a project.
- You know how to create value for the business: You understand how the business makes money e.g. developing leads, our USP, profitability and seek ways to innovate (whether through end-user experiences, process efficiency, profitability gains or service journey).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
