Role Description
The Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences will contribute to curriculum design, delivery, and evaluation across undergraduate and postgraduate medical and health programs. This full-time, on-site role based in Buckingham involves preparing and delivering lectures, seminars, small group teaching, and skills-based sessions, as well as supervising student projects and providing academic advising. The postholder will engage in assessment and examination processes, including setting, marking, and moderating assessments, while contributing to quality assurance and enhancement activities. Responsibilities include participating in educational research or scholarship, supporting clinical and academic partnerships, and contributing to committee work and wider departmental initiatives. The role also involves mentoring colleagues, supporting student wellbeing and professionalism, and promoting inclusive and evidence-based teaching practices.

- Advanced academic qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Allied Health, Medical Education), with a doctoral degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in medical or health sciences education, including experience with lectures, small group teaching, clinical skills instruction, and modern pedagogical methods.
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment design, and quality assurance within higher education or professional healthcare training.
- Evidence of scholarly activity or educational research, with the ability to contribute to the academic profile of the Faculty.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to support and motivate a diverse student body and collaborate effectively with colleagues and clinical partners.
- Commitment to inclusive education, student-centered learning, and the development of safe, competent, and caring healthcare professionals.
- Understanding of regulatory and professional standards relevant to medical and health sciences education; prior experience in a GMC-regulated or comparable environment is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and engage in institutional service, including committee work and program administration.
- Professional registration or eligibility for registration (e.g., with GMC or appropriate healthcare regulatory body) is highly desirable for clinically qualified applicants.
