About the Role

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in realising the strategic vision of the Royal Marsden School (RMS) — to enhance cancer care by inspiring and developing the next generation of health professionals through evidence-based education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Academic-Clinical Synergy: Integrate your credible, contemporary clinical expertise into teaching small course groups and larger lecture settings.
  • Programme Design & Delivery: Partner with Programme Leads to design, develop, and evaluate high-quality post-registration and postgraduate provision, including:
    • The MSc Advanced Clinical Practice
    • Short bespoke courses (tailored to modern clinical needs)
    • Study days (blended learning approaches: face-to-face + virtual platforms)
  • Research-Informed Education: Ensure curriculum offerings reflect the latest clinical innovations and research findings.
  • Academic & Clinician Collaboration: Work within multi-disciplinary teams to mentor postgraduates and junior clinicians, fostering leadership and advanced practice.

Ideal Candidate

Expertise

  • Experience: Proven academic/professional institutional record (minimum 5+ years in advanced clinical practice).
  • Clinical Expertise: Strong background in oncology/nursing specialty or equivalent science nursing field, with strong links to research or innovation.
  • Teaching: Demonstrated educational leadership and innovation, including:
    • Course design for postgraduate and professional audiences
    • Passion for lifelong learning and supporting colleagues in advanced practice.

Transferable Skills & Values

  • Problem-Solving: ability to challenge conventional teaching/learning paradigms
  • Creative Teaching: enthusiasm for virtual/deeper learning experiences (e.g. case studies, blended scenarios)
