Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor – Teaching and Research (Level C or D)
Location: Sydney, NSW (Kensington Campus)
Work type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Salary:
- Level C: $127,000 per annum, plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
- Level D: $155,000 per annum, plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading

Why This Role Matters
We seek a Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Associate Professor (Level D) to join our School of Law, Society and Criminology. We actively encourage applications from:

Successful applicants will:
- Develop and maintain a high-impact research program
- Participate in and foster innovative teaching methodologies
- Lead curriculum reform, particularly focusing on Indigenous justice
Responsibilities (by Level)
Senior Lecturer (Level C)
- Contribute to teaching, research, and curriculum development
- Teach and convene BCCJ courses (Criminology in Practice and Placement)
- Build partnerships with industry and institutions
- Guide and supervise doctoral students, has a memorable research productivity
- Develop innovative, inclusive teaching inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives
Associate Professor (Level D)

Lead and deliver high-impact research outcomes

Supervise multidisciplinary doctoral student teams

Spearhead industry engagement and partnerships

Advance inclusive curriculum reform, especially through Indigenous led frameworks

Assume leadership in faculty-wide educational initiatives

Foster a thriving research culture correlating with faculty objectives
Core Activities (Both Levels)
- Collaborative engagement on UNSW’S priorities: Social justice, digital disruption, and diversity.
- Lead educational technology integration.
- Promote student well-being and inclusion.
Skills & Criteria
Required Qualifications & Experience
- PhD in Criminology, Sociology, Psychology, or Audit (or equivalent industry expertise)
- Demonstrated abilities in:
- Quantitative/qualitative social science methodologies or a blend of both
- Indigenous knowledges and stories (Preferred)
Level C Proficiency
- Research Output: Significant, high-impact research portfolio
- Teaching Excellent: Effective curriculum development and progressive teaching practices
- Indigenous Engagement: Collaborative strategies supporting community and educational outcomes.
- Collaboration: Service plans supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.

Level D Excellence
- Research Leadership: Proven track record with homogenous high impact and continued growth
- Research Leadership: Contribution to institutional funding activism
- Impactful Mentoring: Proven record of Building both doctoral research excellence and clinically useful internship programs across all interdisciplinary domains.
