About This Role

We are excited to be recruiting for the position of Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management [Full-time, Permanent]. Working within the School of Architecture and Environment, and specifically the Quantity Surveying subject area, this post will focus on teaching and supporting learners on the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management programme, as well as contributing to wider built-environment courses.

The programme prepares students for professional practice by combining theory with applied learning. Students develop expertise in measurement, estimating, procurement, and contract administration, with particular emphasis on UK industry standards such as NRM, JCT, and NEC contracts.

The curriculum spans the full project lifecycle, from QS Practice and Procedures and Procurement and Contract Practice through to advanced modules in International Cost Management and Commercial Management. Learners are encouraged to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, including work placements, and to engage with contemporary issues such as sustainability, innovation, and professionalism in the built environment.

In addition to the full-time and part-time undergraduate pathways, the programme has a thriving ‘Degree Apprenticeship’ portfolio, with a strong cohort of apprentices working across more than 65 partner organisations in the UK construction industry. RICS Chartership or perusing one within reasonable timeline is desirable for the position.

Details of the course can be found on QSCM at UWE Bristol

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
