Senior Legal Advisor – Carlisle Support Services
About the Role
Carlisle Support Services is seeking a Senior Legal Advisor to provide high-quality, commercially astute, and pragmatic legal guidance across the organisation.
You will deliver strategic legal advice, manage a diverse portfolio of legal matters, and uphold robust commercial, regulatory, and governance standards for the business.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver accurate, timely, and commercially pragmatic legal advice to support business operations, strategic initiatives, and senior management decisions.

Act as the primary escalation point for legal queries, offering clear and effective guidance.

Lead and manage complex legal matters, including high-value, high-risk contracts, ensuring alignment with business strategy and risk appetite.

Support operational and commercial teams by enhancing contract clarity, risk identification, and dispute prevention.

Proactify on regulatory compliance, escalating complex issues as appropriate.

Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, including:
- Master Service Agreements
- Customer/supplier framework agreements
- Tenders, service contracts
- Partnership agreements
- NDAs

Manage the contract lifecycle through execution, ensuring proper governance, documentation, and risk mitigation.

Identify and assess contractual risks, proposing commercially balanced solutions.

Assist in bids, proposals, and tender responses, ensuring compliance and competitiveness.

Support risk mitigation efforts across business units and projects to strengthen operational resilience.

Lead legal governance and compliance frameworks, supporting the Board, Director of Legal & Procurement, and broader decision-making.

Develop, implement, and improve legal policies and procedures, including risk controls and compliance protocols.

Support early dispute management, resolving conflicts commercially before formal escalation.

Drives efficiency improvements through legal process innovation and current solutions.

Deliver legal training and guidance, enhancing legal awareness company-wide.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Legal, Procurement, Finance, Sales, Operations) to advance business objectives.
Ideal Candidate
Essential Requirements
✔ 7–10 years PQE (Probate Qualification Engagement) as a solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent). ✔ Specialisation in commercial law, ideally gained in in-house roles or commercial practice. ✔ Advanced competencies in contract drafting, negotiation, and risk management. ✔ Independent working with critical judgement, strong organisational skills, and ability to multi-task effectively. ✔ Commercial acumen with a focus solutions-oriented approach, balancing legal rigor and operational realities. ✔ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, translating complicated legal concepts for non-lawyers. ✔ Evidence of success in advising senior leaders and managing stakeholders at various levels.

Desirable Experience
• Background in serviced sectors (facilities management, security, cleaning, engineering support, utilities). • Experience handling procurement processes, frameworks, and contracts (including public/private sector initiatives). • Knowledge of commercial frameworks (e.g., NEC4, JCT). • Compliance or risk management experience within legal or broader operational contexts.
Location & Work Arrangement
The role could be based in Luton or remote/flexible—part-time arrangements considered.
