Senior Legal Cashier
We're looking for an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong legal cashiering background who enjoys combining technical expertise with mentoring colleagues and driving best practice.
As a senior member of the team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our Legal Cashiering function, supporting compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules, Money Laundering Regulations and our internal financial controls.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of a wide range of client and office account transactions, including:
- Processing client account receipts, payments, CHAPS and Faster Payments
- Managing client-to-client and client-to-office transfers
- Posting office account payments, journals and receipts
- Calculating and processing daily client-to-office transfers
- Completing daily bank reconciliations
- Monitoring shared finance inboxes, triaging work and ensuring queries are resolved efficiently
- Acting as a gatekeeper for incoming funds, reviewing transactions for AML and source of funds requirements
- Maintaining accurate audit trails and ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules
- Identifying and escalating potential compliance issues or financial risks
- Supporting colleagues with technical guidance and sharing best practice across the team

About you
We're looking for someone who is technically strong, highly organised and enjoys working collaboratively.
You'll ideally have:
- At least 5 years' experience working as a Legal Cashier
- A thorough understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules and how they apply in practice
- Experience processing client and office account transactions within a legal environment
- Knowledge of online banking, CHAPS and Faster Payments
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- The confidence to work independently whilst supporting others
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive approach with the ability to manage competing priorities
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and discretion
