Senior Legal Counsel

Senior Real Estate Lawyer – UK Counsel (Global Real Estate Group)

We are partnering with a global real estate group, backed by a major international conglomerate. With a growth agenda and a diverse portfolio spanning development, investment, and asset management, the business offers a unique platform for a senior lawyer to take on a highly visible, high-impact role as sole UK counsel.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Group General Counsel, this role gives you the chance to operate as the lead legal adviser for the UK business. You’ll play a pivotal role by supporting senior stakeholders across real estate and commercial matters while shaping strategy and delivering pragmatic, solutions-focused legal advice.

This position offers:

  • Significant autonomy and exposure to complex, high-value transactions
  • Influence over decision-making in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Office presence required 5 days per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on a broad range of real estate matters, including:
    • Leasing, acquisitions, and disposals
    • Property management, development, and construction
  • Draft, review, and negotiate key legal documents, such as:
    • Commercial leases
    • Sale and purchase agreements
    • Construction and consultancy contracts
    • Planning and Section 106 agreements
    • Guarantees and collateral warranties
  • Oversee legal due diligence and title investigations
  • Provide dispute resolution advice, including:
    • Pre-action strategies
    • Coordination with external counsel on adjudication, arbitration, and litigation
  • Guide corporate compliance and general commercial matters across UK operations
  • Act as a trusted legal adviser to senior leadership, balancing legal risk with commercial priorities

About You

We’re looking for a qualified lawyer with:

  • 7+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), trained at a leading UK law firm
  • Strong expertise in real estate law, with ideal background in:
    • Residential and mixed-use development
    • Commercial leases and property transactions
  • A commercially astute, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented approach
  • Proven ability to work independently in a lean team
  • High comfort with autonomy and ownership of legal tasks
  • Experience thriving in a dynamic environment, with a track record of advising senior stakeholders
