Senior Legal Counsel

Senior Legal Counsel (Employment)

Our goal is to create better places and support thriving communities.

Job Overview

Location: Hybrid (must be able to travel when required)

This is a senior in-house employment law role, responsible for delivering strategic, commercial, and pragmatic legal advice across a large, fast-moving organisation. You will partner closely with HR, senior leadership, and other legal colleagues to:

  • Manage legal risk
  • Support business change
  • Shape legally compliant, people-focused solutions

We are looking for a talented, versatile "all-rounder"—equally at home managing an employment tribunal caseload as negotiating a TUPE schedule.

Main Duties

  • Advise HR and business leaders on legally complex, sensitive, and high-risk employee relations matters, including:

    • Disciplinary and grievance issues
    • Discrimination cases
    • Whistleblowing
    • Restructures, redundancies, and TUPE transfers
    • Business change initiatives
    • Restrictive covenants and senior exits
    • Settlement agreements
  • Balance legal risk, commercial considerations, and operational needs

  • Manage or oversee employment litigation and pre-claim disputes, including:

    • Instructing and supervising external counsel
    • Reviewing pleadings
    • Shaping case strategy
    • Supporting witness preparation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
