About the Role

Reporting directly to the Global Head of Legal, you will play a central role in driving the company’s continued expansion, partnering with teams across the organization to deliver clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused legal support. This is a varied, high-impact position within a tech-enabled legal team. You will advise on a broad range of cutting-edge technology matters across global operations, with a particular focus on complex commercial transactions, software licensing, and the fast-evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. Alongside core contracting, you will actively shape strategic initiatives, including agentic AI, data privacy, intellectual property, and M&A activity.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial Contracting: Own and lead complex, high-value commercial matters end-to-end. Draft and negotiate a wide range of technology contracts, including SaaS, software licensing, reseller/channel partnerships, and key vendor arrangements globally.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Lead on the procurement of business-critical goods and services, advising on sourcing strategy, contractual frameworks, and supplier risk to ensure resilience and compliance.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Oversee legal risk management across the group. Maintain clear oversight of the risk register, drive mitigation plans, and monitor global regulatory updates across tech, data protection, and AI.
  • Data Privacy: Lead on data protection and privacy matters, supporting compliance with UK and EU GDPR, and working closely with Information Security to meet customer and regulatory expectations.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Partner closely with Finance (insurance, pensions, operations) and Corporate Development (M&A and business transformation initiatives). Oversee the company secretarial function alongside external providers.
  • Product & Operational Innovation: Support product development by advising on licensing models, open-source considerations, and emerging tech regulations. Drive continuous improvement by developing templates, playbooks, and scalable processes.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction) with circa 4+ years’ PQE and strong commercial law experience within a tech-focused environment.

Required Skills

  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex commercial agreements, SaaS, and software licensing.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong legal judgment and analytical capability, with the ability to deliver clear, pragmatic advice aligned to business risk appetite.
  • Delivery & Drive: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously under pressure in a fast-paced environment, combined with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to partner effectively across all levels of a global business.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior in-house experience within a technology, SaaS, or B2B software business.
  • Experience advising on AI, emerging technologies, and the evolving legal frameworks surrounding them.
  • Exposure to international commercial transactions across EMEA, APAC, and North America.
  • Experience supporting Product and Engineering teams or working within highly regulated technology environments.
