Purpose

(The selected candidate must be willing to relocate to Geneva, Switzerland)

The Senior Legal Counsel is accountable for providing advice, oversight, and execution of banking, finance, corporate, and commercial legal matter

Responsibilities

  • Negotiates banking facilities and other financial arrangements with financial institutions
  • Negotiates commercial agreements (e.g., procurement contracts), advising stakeholders on legal and business implications while identifying pragmatic, business-oriented solutions
  • Structures, documents, and implements intra-companies transactions, including capital increases, dividend distributions, and internal reorganizations.
  • Oversees the execution of regional initiatives by local teams, including mergers and acquisitions and restructuring projects.
  • Instructs and manages external counsel where appropriate, including oversight of scope and budget in line with project requirements

  • Willing to relocate to Geneva, Switzerland;
  • Demonstrable expertise in a common-law legal system;
  • Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained in multinational law firms; and/or in legal departments of multinationals;
  • Proven experience in Banking law, Corporate law and Commercial law;
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus;
  • Strong legal drafting and analytical skills;
  • Highly efficient, with the ability to process information rapidly and manage multiple priorities;
  • Takes full ownership of decisions and outcomes;
  • Comfortable working independently or collaboratively, managing matters with varying levels of guidance;
  • Available to travel when needed.
