Job Description

Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel/Legal Counsel

Salary: Up to £80k basic DOE

Location: Alderley Edge

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Vita Group are a dynamic and expanding group of businesses and brands, operating across real estate development (Vita Student, House of Social, Uhaus Vita Living, Union, Affinity Living and City Suites, House of Social & Symphony Park), technology and sports sectors (Stockport County F.C.).

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and wider legal team, you’ll be responsible for the following:

  • Working with the businesses on a wide range of transactional work – often supporting on high value and complex transactions, but also including a number of smaller deals which you will have opportunity to take the lead on.
  • Dealing with corporate transactions, including corporate wrapped real estate acquisitions and disposals, other corporate acquisitions and disposals, formation of joint ventures, business and asset sales, and investments (both the making and receipt of).
  • Financings and refinancings – whether as part of the acquisition of a new asset, that asset moving to a new stage (eg bridge to development, or development to investment), or facility renewal or replacement.
  • Entry into of construction contracts, for both large full package works (such as the development of a new scheme) or smaller ad-hoc packages.
  • General commercial contract advice across various areas of the Group’s businesses including operations, marketing and IT and technology.
  • Corporate transactional support (acquisitions, asset sales, joint ventures, financings and refinancings etc…).
  • Assisting with a wide range of other legal matters affecting the Group’s businesses and portfolio including property, planning, construction and data protection matters.
  • Management of external legal teams and internal stakeholders.

  • Ideally 3-6 years PQE but this is just a guide and we are open to considering applications of candidates who fall outside of this PQE range but who have the relevant experience.
  • In-house experience is desirable but not essential.
  • A transactional legal background with experience in any of the following practice areas:
    • Corporate
    • Commercial
    • Real Estate
    • Construction
    • Banking & Finance
  • The ability to balance professional expertise with commercial pragmatism, and crucially, a willingness and appetite to learn.
