Join the Close Brothers Legal Team where you will provide regulatory and consumer credit advice to the business on matters relating to retail clients.

Working as part of the Legal team our ideal team member will have previous experience in providing legal input to project delivery and business transformation programmes with excellent presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on regulatory compliance with various matters, including (but not limited to) Consumer Duty, enforceability, affordability, vulnerable customers and arrears processes.
  • Review, draft and advise on customer documentation (regulated, exempt and unregulated), advise and help to manage in relation to associated disputes.
  • Ensure a consistent approach is adopted in relation to regulatory and consumer credit matters across the Group
  • Involvement in areas in which the role holder may not themselves be a subject matter expert, including foreign jurisdictions.
  • Attendance at key risk and compliance meetings including preparation of legal papers/pack.
  • Help in key change / transformation activities within the business, including actions linked to external and regulatory developments
  • Identification and elevation of material risks to appropriate stakeholders /risk committees

Developing Our People

As a line manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating your team, as well as developing performance through coaching. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE/ARE:

  • A senior lawyer with significant relevant experience, first rate academic credentials, demonstrable intellectual abilities and an excellent career track record to date
  • In-depth understanding of the retail banking and financial services industry
  • A business orientated lawyer with the breadth of experience to cover retail products, regulation and other broad-based legal risk issues arising across the Motor Finance business’ product spectrum
  • Accustomed to operating within a highly regulated environment and working collaboratively with Compliance, Risk and Governance colleagues on wide range of issues with a view to breaking down silos
  • Ability to operate at the ExCo level of the Premium business

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE/ARE:

  • A qualified solicitor
  • PQE exposure
  • In house legal experience
