Senior Legal Technology Reporter
Department: Content Editorial & Research
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: London
Description
What You’ll Do: You’ll be tasked with reporting on the intersection of law and technology, with a particular focus on developments in the UK and Europe. Your coverage area will include covering everything from technology that lawyers use and its impact on the legal profession, to the way certain technologies are being controlled and regulated. This means writing about topics like artificial intelligence, e-discovery, data privacy, cybersecurity, automation, the blockchain and the internet of things (among others) within the context of the legal industry.
These Are The Primary Coverage Areas
The latest generative AI developments, models, regulations, and cybersecurity and data privacy issues, and how these technologies and developments are impacting the legal industry. All other technology used by lawyers and how it’s redefining the profession, including product and trend news. This applies to law firms, corporate legal departments, and other legal service providers. How the application of data analytics, technology and innovation are changing the business of law and the delivery of legal services. The companies behind the technology, including their investments, mergers and acquisitions, and major career moves. Legal technology’s fast-growing startup scene, comprising companies across the globe. The market for e-discovery technology and the opportunities, challenges, and regulations facing e-discovery professionals. Evolving UK and EU regulations involving cybersecurity, data privacy, and technology, and what such laws portend for legal professionals. Major litigation and case law impacting the technology space. Live stories from industry conferences, written as well as documented through social media.
Your work will primarily appear on Legaltech News and Law.com, though will often also be published on other Centellic sites including The American Lawyer, Lexology, The National Law Journal, Corporate Counsel, The New York Law Journal, The Recorder, and other local, national and international publications.
About the Legal Technology Team: You’ll be joining a small, tight-knit team of reporters and editors operating out of different offices who provide legal tech coverage for Centellic’s various publications. The team functions as a part of a fast-moving, proactive and collaborative newsroom that spans the globe. We strive to be at the forefront of legal technology reporting, covering innovation as it’s happening, not after it’s already established. We’re looking for someone who’s always looking ahead for the next big story.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
