Water Resources Planning Consultant – Expressions of Interest

The Opportunity

Water is at the centre of everything. It sustains life, shapes ecosystems and underpins communities across the UK and beyond. Securing a resilient and sustainable water supply for future generations has never been more critical.

AMP8 (2025–2030) marks the largest investment in UK water infrastructure since privatisation. The water industry faces pressures from climate change, population growth, and increasing environmental standards, while strengthening long-term resilience. This transforms it into a unique opportunity to develop new water resources and deliver lasting benefits for communities and the environment.

At Stantec, our Water Resources team supports clients tackling these challenges head-on through:

  • Strategic Resource Options (SROs)
  • Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs)
  • Drought Plans
  • Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP)

We partner with water companies, regulators, and stakeholders to shape the future of water management. We invite Expressions of Interest from Water Resources professionals who champion collaborative, multidisciplinary work—blending technical, environmental, and engineering expertise to help clients make informed, future-focused decisions.

About The Role

We’re seeking Water Resources Planning Consultants at all career stages—from early-career professionals through to established Technical Directors leading project teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting clients across the UK—working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Collaborating with specialists in our Water Environment and Engineering teams.
  • Developing sustainable, joined-up solutions through tasks including:
    • Water resources option appraisal
    • Environmental assessment
    • Water resources modelling
    • Deployable output assessments
    • Feasibility studies
    • Regulatory submissions
  • Helping clients plan and deliver resilient, long-term water solutions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
