Water Resources Planning Consultant – Expressions of Interest

Opportunity at Stantec – AMP8 (2025–2030) Water Resources

At the heart of everything, water sustains life, ecosystems, and communities across the UK. The next eight years will demand the largest investment in UK water infrastructure since privatisation, addressing climate change, population growth, and environmental resilience while ensuring secure, long-term water solutions.

Stantec’s Water Resources team supports leading organisations shaping the future of water management. We collaborate across Strategic Resource Options (SROs), Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs), Drought Plans, and the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP)—bridging regulators, water companies, and stakeholders to deliver sustainable decisions.

About the Role

Expressions of Interest asked from Water Resources Consultants at all career stages—from early-career professionals to Technical Directors—to support clients across the UK. This role values collaborative, interdisciplinary work that merges hydrological expertise, environmental impact analysis, and engineering solutions.

Key Duties:

  • Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams, engaging with specialists across Water Environment, Engineering, and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Develop sustainable water management strategies, including:
    • Water resources option appraisals
    • Environmental assessments and modelling
    • Feasibility studies and deployable output assessments
    • Strategic, drought, and regulatory submission development
  • Contribute to planning and delivery of resilient, long-term solutions for sustainable futures.
  • For senior professionals:
    • Take a strategic leadership role across projects.
    • Support client engagement, programme delivery, and business growth.
    • Expand our Water Resources capabilities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
