Senior Logistics Manager
Senior Logistics Manager
The Senior Logistics Manager will be working on a live facility where multiple assets will be under construction simultaneously. This role involves planning, coordinating, controlling, and overseeing the movement of materials, equipment, people, and site facilities to ensure projects run safely, efficiently, and on schedule, while successfully managing coexistence with a live facility, its users, and surrounding neighbours in a secure environment.
This role falls under the Bovis project team, reporting to the Construction Director, and is directly responsible for managing the Logistics Contractor employed for this project.
As Logistics Manager, you will oversee all aspects of site logistics, including:
- Supply chain coordination
- Traffic and access management
- Materials handling
- Waste management
- Site facilities
This role ensures the safe and efficient movement of labour, plant, equipment, and materials across construction sites, while also supporting programme delivery, compliance with safety and environmental standards, and adherence to the high standards upheld by Bovis.
Key Responsibilities
Site Logistics Management and Planning
- Develop, implement, and maintain logistics plans for all construction phases
- Collaborate with the Construction Director and team to design site setup, including:
- Hoarding
- Gates
- Accommodation
- Cranes
- Hoists
- Temporary services
- Pedestrian and vehicle routes
- Work with the Construction Director to create Construction Logistics Plans (CLP) and Traffic Management Plans, ensuring local authority approval and maintenance of Bovis standards
- Manage the performance of the Logistics Contractor, monitoring metrics and conducting effective weekly meetings

Material & Inventory Management
- Oversee coordination of delivery, unloading, storage, and distribution of materials
- Maintain accurate delivery records and integrate with the procurement teams
Traffic & Access Control
- Oversee vehicle access systems and delivery bookings
- Manage pedestrian routes and traffic marshalling
- Ensure safe vehicle movements in constrained environments
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure all logistics activities comply with Health and Safety (H&S) regulations and Bovis standards, including site and facility rules
- Conduct inspections, audits, and safety briefings, with regular monitoring of Logistics Contractor deliverables
- Manage waste, recycling, and environmental compliance, ensuring proper reporting
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination
- Lead logistics teams, subcontractors, and labourers
- Liaise with:
- Bovis team
- Client representatives
- Suppliers
- Local authorities
- Community stakeholders
- Organise and chair site meetings, delivering logistics reports
- Contribute as a key team member in delivering excellence under the Considerate Constructors Scheme

Site Facilities & Security Management
- Manage installation and upkeep of site accommodation and welfare facilities
- Support in maintaining site security alongside the project security team to enforce security protocols
Required Skills & Experience
Core Competencies
- Strong organisational and planning skills (with competent IT skills)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
- Leadership and people management within a large delivery team
- Knowledge of:
- Construction processes
- Safety regulations
- Supply chain operations
- Understanding of cost control
Experience
- Demonstratable logistics management experience
- Prior experience working on major construction projects within live facilities
- Experience working with Tier 1 Contractor to maintain first-class operational standards
Qualifications (Desirable/Critical)
- CSCS Manager Card
- SMSTS / SSSTS
- First Aid at Work
- NVQ Level 6 (desirable)
