Senior Logistics Transport Manager

Senior Logistics Transport Manager

Location: Derby (Hybrid – Minimum 3 days on site across Derby, London and regional locations)

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Pod Talent are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a leading consumer business to recruit a Senior Logistics Transport Manager.

This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping and optimising a rapidly evolving UK transport network. Following significant investment into its logistics operation, the business is entering its next phase of growth and is seeking a candidate who can challenge existing ways of working, drive continuous improvement, and help build a transport network fit for the future.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional transport management role focusing solely on fleets, drivers, or day-to-day transport operations. Instead, we are looking for someone who enjoys taking a strategic view of transport performance, using data to identify opportunities, improving network efficiency, and collaborating across the supply chain to deliver meaningful operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Logistics Transport Manager (Transport Planning), your roles and responsibilities include:

  • Review and continuously optimise the performance of the UK transport network, including:
    • Final mile
    • Middle mile
    • Supplier collections
    • Inter-site transport
  • Identify and implement enhancements in route efficiency, network design, and transport performance overall.
  • Ensure alignment between inbound supply and outbound demand with Supply Chain, Planning, and Production teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external carrier partners, monitoring and driving continuous improvement.
  • Use transport data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to detect trends, challenge processes, and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Support the ongoing development of transport planning capabilities, systems, and best practices.
  • Lead and mentor a Transport Planner while influencing stakeholders across the logistics operation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
