Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI Training)
About The Role
What if your deep understanding of machine learning could directly shape how the next generation of AI systems reason, plan, and solve complex problems? We're looking for Senior Machine Learning Engineers to author high-fidelity reasoning traces — the structured, step-by-step thinking that teaches LLMs how to approach real-world tasks with precision and reliability.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for experienced ML practitioners who want to work at the frontier of AI development, on their own schedule, without sacrificing depth or impact.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Author complex, high-fidelity reasoning traces that capture how an LLM should plan, use tools, and make decisions across sophisticated technical tasks
- Design and document structured decision-making workflows that help AI models navigate intricate, real-world scenarios
- Review and mentor reasoning trace outputs to ensure optimal quality, logical clarity, and sound tool-use documentation
- Develop data strategies that improve how LLMs reason through multi-step problems end to end
- Collaborate with a global team working directly with leading AI research labs

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
