The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly experienced and credible Senior Electrical Consultant to join our growing Asset Management capability. This role is ideal for an individual who combines deep technical expertise with strong consultancy judgement and is motivated by the opportunity to shape client outcomes, influence industry practice, and develop a growing capability.
As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with clients to identify, assess, and mitigate complex machinery and functional safety risks, often operating at a senior level within their organisations. Alongside delivering high-quality consultancy, you will play a central role in developing services, growing client relationships, and expanding our presence in high-risk sectors including Energy, Food and Drink, Mining and Waste & Recycling.
This is a role for someone who wants to go beyond delivery, contributing to thought leadership, capability development, and the strategic direction of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Client Advisory

You will act as a recognised technical authority, leading and delivering complex consultancy work, including:
- Machinery safety and risk assessments (ISO 12100, PUWER)
- UKCA / CE marking and Technical File development
- Functional safety lifecycle activities (SRS, verification via SISTEMA, validation)
- Providing clear, pragmatic and defensible advice to clients at senior level
- Supporting clients in making strategic, risk-informed investment decisions
- Delivering expert opinion and, where required, supporting expert witness activities

You will be expected to translate complex technical challenges into practical, commercially viable solutions, building long-term trusted relationships with clients.
This role would suit someone looking to advance towards supporting Expert Witness activities.

Capability and Practice Development
- You will play a key role in shaping and growing the Asset Management capability, including:
- Leading the development of service offerings in machinery and functional safety
- Supporting expansion into new sectors and higher-risk environments
- Mentoring and developing consultants, strengthening technical and consultancy capability
- Contributing to a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Sharing knowledge internally and helping to raise the overall capability across the business
Business Growth and External Presence
- You will contribute to the growth and profile of the business, including:
- Building and developing senior-level client relationships
- Identifying and securing new consultancy opportunities
- Leading or contributing to proposals and client engagements
- Representing the business externally through industry engagement, networking and thought leadership (e.g. events, articles, forums)
- Supporting the development of Finch’s reputation as a trusted and pragmatic risk management partner
Organisational Contribution
- Produce high-quality, insightful consultancy reports and expert outputs
- Manage projects with responsibility for delivery, quality, and client satisfaction
- Maintain a forward view of workload, pipeline, and business opportunities
- Contribute positively to company culture, knowledge sharing, and internal collaboration
Experience and Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who brings a blend of technical depth, consultancy credibility, and commercial awareness:
- Strong expertise in PUWER assessments and/or UKCA/CE marking
- Significant experience within an electrical engineering or machinery safety environment
- Proven ability to lead and deliver ISO 12100 machinery risk assessments
- Experience in functional safety (SRS, SISTEMA, validation)
- Proven experience building trusted relationships with clients and advising senior stakeholders on technical and operational risk matters.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex projects from scope definition through to delivery and client engagement.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing technical professionals.
- Project management experience across planning, delivery, and client engagement

Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant professional institution (e.g. IET), or demonstrable progress towards chartership.
- Training in BS7671 (18th Edition) or equivalent (e.g. IEC 60204)
- Machinery safety or functional safety qualifications are advantageous
