Senior Maintenance Technician
Location: Day/Night Shift (12-hour shifts: 6 am – 6 pm or vice versa, weekdays & weekends) Contract: Permanent Reporting To: Team Leader (with potential rotation into leadership responsibilities)
About the Role
DP World is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to join their engineering team. This role supports the Team Leader while being able to step into their responsibilities when necessary. Responsibilities include overseeing preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment-related projects across Quay Crane assets, as well as handling inspections, installations, and commissioning of new systems.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Maintain and repair Quay Crane equipment, monitoring and executing preventive, emergency, and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Collect and provide data from these activities to Engineering Planners.
- Coordinate with planners to efficiently execute maintenance schedules and balance workloads according to operational demands.
- Collaborate with engineering stores, ensuring stock levels are managed and new purchases are processed.
- Act as Team Leader in absence, directing technicians, resolving breakdowns effectively, and ensuring safe, timely, and quality maintenance work is completed.
- Supervise external contractors, enforcing adherence to safety protocols and secure working environments.
- Improve/maintain maintenance methodologies, contributing to enhancements in Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all installations/repairs.
- Support upgrades to ** Preventive Maintenance task lists** (existing and new equipment).
- Lead by example, promoting best practices in safety protocols and team work.
- Compile and distribute detailed shift reports to ensure continuity and documentation.

Key Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Hold a Level 3 Qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent profession).
- Possess a profession qualification in electrical engineering/discipline.
- Have expertise in equipment maintenance or mechanical engineering.
- Display practical knowledge of Health & Safety (HSE) regulations relevant to maintenance or related activities.
- Be outstanding in communication and interpersonal skills, ideally with a team-orientated approach.
- Be innovative, dynamic, and proactive, always seeking to enhance standards and processes.
Essential Criteria
All candidates must meet the following notes before applying for this role:
- An eligibility to work in the UK.
- Must hold a valid full UK driving licences, or equivalent international permit, compatible with UK road laws.
- Pass a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check with no unspent past criminal conviction.
- Within manufacturing & safety criterials, this role requires the successful candidate should not exceed 130kg in weight.
- Due to high demand, this role is available subject to closing early upon significant application volume.
