What is the job?

We're looking for a Senior Management Accountant who wants to be part of scaling a local UK finance team to a 1st rate European finance team within a rapidly growing Pharmaceutical business.

At Montu, we're transforming patient access to medical cannabis across the UK, and our Finance team plays a critical role in making that happen. As we continue to grow within and beyond the UK, we're looking for someone who wants more than just a traditional accounting role. You'll have the opportunity to manage two team members and get involved in all things financial control as well as finance team transformation, continuous improvement, decision-making, training & mentoring and supporting our European expansion. You will help shape the future of the Finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified, finalist or qualified accountant who wants exposure beyond the traditional management accounts cycle. You'll work closely with our Financial Controller and have access to our General Manager of Finance. You will gain visibility across the business, and have the opportunity to grow your career as we continue to scale.

If you're ambitious, curious, and looking for a role where your ideas are valued just as much as your technical skills, we'd love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage, mentor and develop the Accounts Payable Lead and Junior Accountant, supporting their professional growth and performance.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of finance processes through strong financial controls, accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Actively learn and champion the adoption of existing and new systems and processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate manual tasks, and help us scale more effectively within finance and the wider business.
  • Act as a finance business partner to operational leaders, providing financial support, challenging assumptions and driving informed commercial decision-making.
  • Use your experience to mentor finance team members and the wider business on cost management and process improvements.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year and provide relevant commentary.
  • Own inventory accounting processes including stock reconciliations, valuation reviews and inventory-related financial controls.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Coordinate external audit requirements, ensure regulatory and tax compliance and support statutory accounts preparation.
  • Own balance sheet integrity through the review and sign-off of reconciliations and the timely investigation and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Own key month-end processes ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Partner with the Finance Transformation Lead on system implementations and process improvements.
  • Partner with FP&A on the production of monthly management accounts and the delivery of management information.
  • Partner with FP&A on forecasting & budgeting rounds.
  • Partner with FP&A on cash flow forecasting and provide visibility on financial performance, working capital and business trends.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
