About the Role
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Management Accounting
- Create the monthly management accounts package including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements for both wholesale and ecommerce divisions, including group consolidation, ensuring its accurate and completeness.
- Develop supporting schedules for the management accounts and deliver comprehensive variance analysis compared to budget, forecast, and previous year, ensuring all changes are thoroughly understood and clearly articulated.
- Take responsibility for monthly accounting entries, including retail sales reconciliations, payroll journals, Fixed Asset Register, Bank reconciliations, Credit card transactions, and Intercompany transactions and invoices.
- Being solely responsible for the accuracy of account payable and management accountants' entries, such as Fixed Asset Register schedules, bank reconciliation, credit card transactions, prepayments accruals, intercompany invoices, ensuring all internal deadlines are met.
- Ensure that all month-end and internal reporting deadlines are consistently met.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns along with other HMRC reporting obligations.
- To be solely responsible for the preparation and presentation of the bi-weekly cashflow model.
- Prepare year-end audit schedules and serve as a key liaison with external auditors throughout the audit process.

Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Support the Financial Controller in crafting the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Create detailed schedules and variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year performance.
- Serve as the business partner for the Head of IT and logistics, reviewing the monthly actuals against the budget each month. Inquire about any variances and present the findings and reasons for these variances to senior.
- Collaborate with marketing and operational stakeholders to ensure spending aligns with approved budgets.

Team Leadership & Development
- Mentor, coach and develop the Accounts Payable team and Management Accountants.
- Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc projects, business initiatives and strategic finance activities.
Qualifications
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience with significant relevant expertise.
Required Skills
- Bright, ambitious and eager to progress their career.
- Proactive, hands-on and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Naturally curious and driven to understand the detail behind the numbers.
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial systems knowledge.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Passionate about accuracy and maintaining high standards.
- A team player who enjoys contributing beyond their immediate responsibilities.
