The Department – Finance Team

The Position – Senior Management Accountant
Uxbridge High School is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is a senior technical finance role, offering an exceptional opportunity for a fully qualified accountant to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial management—supporting the broader educational vision of the school.
The ideal candidate will:
- Build on recent successes in strengthening financial processes
- Instil rigour and accuracy in financial reporting
- Drive continuous improvement within finance systems, controls, and processes
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Management Accountant will oversee:
- Management accounts & budget monitoring
- Forecasting
- Reconciliation of financial data
- Cashflow reporting
- Payroll review
- Financial controls
Additionally, you will:
- Provide clear, actionable financial commentary to:
- The Director of Finance & Operations
- Senior leadership
- Trustees
- Budget holders
- Ensure financial information directly supports strategic decision-making.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
We are seeking a fully qualified accountant with:
- Recognised professional accountancy qualifications at chartered or chartered-equivalent level, including (but not limited to):
- ACCA
- CIPFA
- CIMA
- ICAEW
- ICAS
- Equivalent experience

Must-have competencies:
- Strong management accounting skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Sound financial judgement
- Ability to distil complex financial information for non-finance stakeholders
- Composure in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments
Desired Strengths
- Experience in education finance
- Familiarity with school governance and budgetary processes
- Ability to challenge inconsistencies diplomatically
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities
