Senior Management Accountant
Financial & Manufacturing Accountant
Location: Hull, hybrid working
Salary: £60,000 per annum
Hours: Monday-Friday (9am-5pm)
About the Role
We are seeking a Financial & Manufacturing Accountant to join our hybrid team in Hull. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, business partnering with operations, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes. This position is ideal for a fully qualified accountant with manufacturing experience, preferably within food or FMCG.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Control
- Prepare and deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including full P&L and balance sheet analysis.
- Lead month-end close processes, including accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Support statutory reporting and audit processes.
Business Partnering
- Act as a finance business partner to operational and site teams.
- Provide financial insight and challenge to support decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to analyse efficiency, waste, and yield performance.
- Assist with Capex, payback analysis, and operational profitability.
Costing & Manufacturing Finance
- Maintain and develop standard costing models.
- Analyse production variances (labour, materials, overheads) and identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor inventory valuation and stock controls.
- Support cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.

Budgeting & Forecasting
- Drive the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop realistic financial plans.
- Track performance against budget and provide actionable insights.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and reporting systems.
- Drive efficiencies through automation and improved data analysis.
- Contribute to finance transformation and system enhancements.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
- Significant experience in a management accounting role, preferably within manufacturing (food or FMCG).
- Strong understanding of standard costing and production finance.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
- Proven ability to influence and partner with non-finance stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in a multi-site or fast-paced production environment.
