Senior Management Accountant / Finance Manager
Vardey Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a growing and dynamic business in the search for an experienced Accountant to join the team as the Senior Management Accountant, based near Bournemouth, Dorset. This is an excellent opportunity for an Accountant to take a leading role within the finance function, supporting operational management, driving process improvements and overseeing the delivery of high-quality financial reporting.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the Management Accounts Team, supporting month-end and year-end processes, strengthening financial controls and partnering with operational teams across the business.
Key Responsibilities Of Senior Management Accountant/Finance Manager
Management Accounts Team Leadership
Manage, mentor and support the Management Accounts Team Take a leading role in monthly review meetings with department heads Month-End & Management Accounting Oversee the month-end close process, including reviewing journals, ledger balances, management accounts and commentary prepared by the team Ensure accurate financial records are maintained in line with accounting policies and procedures Responsible for the preparation and distribution of monthly management accounts to the Chief Financial Officer and department heads Support budgeting and forecasting processes

Balance Sheet & Financial Control
Prepare and review key balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness Investigate and resolve variances in a timely manner Ensure reconciliations are completed in line with internal deadlines and control procedures Support the strengthening of financial controls and continuous improvement initiatives
Financial Reporting & Audit Support
Assist with year-end audit processes, including responding to audit queries and providing supporting documentation Support the preparation of statutory accounts and external reporting requirements Contribute to improving reporting processes and finance procedures across the business
Systems & Process Improvement
Act as a key lead within the Finance Team for workflow processes, troubleshooting issues and promoting best practice. Ensure year-end close procedures are completed accurately and within agreed timelines. Support future finance implementation projects, process improvements. Contribute to wider finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
Ideally a fully Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) OR exceptional QBE, Finalist and late stage studies will be considered Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls Proven experience of month-end processes, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across finance and operational teams Strong Excel and accounting systems experience Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
